MIKE ANDERSON CRUSHES PAT LYKOS IN THE HARRIS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY REPUBLICAN PRIMARY

CONGRATULATIONS to Mike Anderson in his resounding victory over  former DA Pat Lykos.

I am the first to admit that the campaign was very worrisome; but a solid victory is what ultimately is the measure of political success.

The reign of Lykos' arbitrary terror and incompetence is over. 
I would urge all current ADAs to request a copy of their personnel file tomorrow morning to insure its integrity.

Politics played second chair to qualifications this evening and the voters of Harris County should be proud..........I know that the Harris County Criminal Justice Center is humbled with sincere gratitude.

Murray Newman you, more than anyone, made this night possible..............Thank you!

THE VOTERS THREW THE HARRIS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE OUT WITH CHUCK ROSENTHAL'S ANTICS FOUR YEARS AGO............... MIKE ANDERSON PLEASE OPEN YOUR EYES BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE

The DA Republican primary is about to explode in the next week or so.

The theme is now crystal clear.........do the voters want to continue with radical change from a relative outsider or do they want to go back to the good old boy days of yesteryear?

In today's edition of the Houston Chronicle two (2) staff writers attempted to set the tone and present the candidates. In the incumbent's corner, Brian Rogers presented DA Pat Lykos and in the challenger's corner Joe Holley presented Mike Anderson.

Rogers, although obviously supportive of Lykos, attempted objectivity by pointing out Lykos' bizarre comment that she wished she had a Jack and Coke while being questioned by reporters about her DIVERT program AND touched on the ongoing investigation as to whether or not Lykos authorized an investigation of members of a grand jury who were investigating alleged wrongdoing by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

The take home message from Rogers was:
1. Lykos campaigned to clean house and in the process of meeting that goal stepped on some toes of the  "good old boy win at all costs" network.
2. Two (2) Grand Juries investigated the DA's office but NO indictments were returned.
(Could this be a sinister conspiracy to revive the "good old boy" hang 'em high days or just a coincidence ?)
3. Limited Harris County resources are best spent dealing with serious violent criminals, not having law enforcement officers spend hours of their valuable time booking trace cases.
4.  Do the voters want a DA like Lykos who is tough but fair OR do the voters want to let the old regime back in?

Joe Holley painted Mike Anderson as a kid growing up in Mayberry.  Mike Anderson's grandfather was a barber and longtime personal friend of Percy Foreman and that's why he became a prosecutor..........no kidding?

I think it's cool that Anderson likes to bow hunt and fish. It's also cool he played strong safety at Texas Lutheran and as a dad likes little league and boy scouts . It's nice that his wife Devon was a District judge for four years and sad she couldn't get re-elected.  BUT are these good reasons to elect a candidate to be DA?
Of course not and I understand the effort at humanizing Anderson to make him likable and present a strong contrast to Lykos who is anything but warm and fuzzy.
Holley also pointed out that Anderson was a long time veteran prosecutor; but I didn't see anything memorable in the article that made him stand out. In fact it would be hard to differentiate his career as a prosecutor from Chuck Rosenthal and that, I am afraid, might be the take home message many voters may carry away from the article. 

You can't go back to high school and be a cheerleader again at 56....................I was hoping the article on Anderson would put forth some bullet points on the ANDERSON PLAN.
Statistics can be bastardized to support almost any position; so unless there is glaring irrefutable evidence to support a policy's failure or success, perception will rule.

The perception on Anderson's position seems to be:
1. DIVERT is illegal (Which I agree with but it's an issue that does not resonate with the voters)
2. Trace cases need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law (voters want governments to be more fiscally responsible and common sense oriented these days)
3. Johnny Holmes was a great prosecutor and Harris County needs to go back to the days of JBH. ( I think JBH was a phenomenal DA for the time he served. JBH's once stellar reputation has been severly tainted by the shameful Rosenthal scandal and it will be exceedingly difficult to separate the two (2) images come election time. JBH endorsed Rosenthal and Anderson but not Kelly Siegler..........it seems his endorsement picker might be jacked).


I have two (2) grave concerns for Anderson's viability:
1.  That  there will be no formal finding by the Texas Rangers that Lykos inappropriately investigated grand jurors AND if that finding is made prior to May 29th, it will be exceedingly difficult to support any reasonable conclusion but that a politically motivated manipulation of the grand jury process was designed and carried out by the Anderson team to ensure an election coup employing a"win at all costs" good old boy mindset...............perception beats reality every time in the political arena.
2. That Anderson has nothing to offer except that Lykos is bad people and he used to be a prosecutor in the days of Johnny Holmes and Chuck Rosenthal.

I have been hard on Mike Anderson in my latest posts because of my great disappointment in his campaign thus far and my love of an office whose greatness is in the balance. 
I have heard in many of the Republican functions, Anderson being told to start acting like a prosecutor and not like a Judge.............I agree.

Anderson needs to ARGUE AND MAKE HIS POINTS like a PROSECUTOR.
UNLIKE 2008, he is not limited to the SUPPOSITION that an individual with zero prosecutorial experience will be a very poor choice for the position of district attorney (as obvious as that should have been to every voter)..........................Lykos has handed Anderson the gift of proving up the hypothesis beyond a shadow of a doubt.

Today, however, it is NOT enough for Anderson to simply argue that because Lykos has never been a prosecutor.....blah, blah, blah..,..........because NOW not only has she been a prosecutor for the last four (4) years, she has been the top dog prosecutor in the eyes of the public and the job performance of the ADAs is now a direct reflection on Lykos' leadership.
So how are the ADAs measuring up these days? 
The voters are not concerned about what the outside world considers petty grievances that the prosecutors in the trenches complain of.............they are concerned with the performance of these folks.
SPECIFICALLY how are the 2012 ADAs  measuring up to the 2008 ADAs?

Lykos' assault on JUSTICE in Harris County is much more than DIVERT and not prosecuting trace cases.
The ADAs are the  heart and soul of 1201 Franklin and they are not being properly trained, mentored and supported for greatness..........Anderson's made that point; BUT the voters need more.
The voters will not tolerate the reality of this void under Lykos IF they are made privy to the big picture dynamics with REAL voter sensitive issue oriented outcomes that matter to them..........the voters, after all, are the target audience, not the ADAs.
General suppositions won't cut it at the voting booth............Anderson needs to lock, load and fire with precision.

SO MIKE:

TELL the VOTERS how YOU are going to make the future of the Harris County District Attorney's Office a better place with YOU at the helm..................what is your platform of reformation?

STOP acting like you are Johnny Holmes "redux" and tell the VOTERS why they need YOU.......JBH isn't running for DA you are.

Chuck Rosenthal needs to be buried...............and Mike Anderson needs to be resurrected.
 
This isn't 2008. You've had more than a mere couple of months to prepare. You've run campaigns before. There won't be a run-off this time for the old blue hairs to usher in one of their own.  The Chuck Rosenthal scandal isn't on every news channel.  Being a good trial lawyer won't be pejorative. Lykos has a record for you to expose and you have the slates...........it's yours to lose so don't you dare do that.

GAME ON. It is time to WALK THE TALK, MIKE.

OBAMA v. U.S. CONSTITUTION


Marbury v. Madison, 5 U.S. 137, 1 Cranch 137, 2 L. Ed. 60 (1803).

ISSUE: Does the Supreme Court have the authority to review acts of Congress and determine whether they are unconstitutional and therefore void?

RULING: Yes. The Supreme Court has the authority to review acts of Congress and determine whether they are unconstitutional and therefore void. It is emphatically the duty of the Judicial Department to say what the law is. Those who apply the rule to particular cases must, of necessity, expound and interpret the rule. If two laws conflict with each other, the Court must decide on the operation of each. If courts are to regard the Constitution, and the Constitution is superior to any ordinary act of the legislature, the Constitution, and not such ordinary act, must govern the case to which they both apply.

Surely, President Barack Hussein Obama, who once taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago, is familiar with this landmark decision.

Yet, Obama took an opening shot at conservative justices on the Supreme Court on Monday, warning that a rejection of his sweeping healthcare law would be an act of "judicial activism" that Republicans say they abhor:
"Ultimately, I am confident that the Supreme Court will not take what would be an unprecedented, extraordinary step of overturning a law that was passed by a strong majority of a democratically elected Congress, and I'd just remind conservative commentators that, for years, what we have heard is, the biggest problem on the bench was judicial activism, or a lack of judicial restraint, that an unelected group of people would somehow overturn a duly constituted and passed law. Well, this is a good example, and I'm pretty confident that this court will recognize that and not take that step," he said at a news conference with the leaders of Canada and Mexico.



The Supreme Court is looking at whether Congress exceeded its power to regulate commerce in U.S. states with the individual mandate that requires most people to buy insurance.

"I think the justices should understand that in the absence of an individual mandate, you cannot have a mechanism to ensure that people with preexisting conditions can actually get health care, so there's not only a economic element to this, and a legal element to this, but there's a human element to this. And I hope that's not forgotten in this political debate", said Obama.

Obama is confusing his "role" of POTUS with his earlier stint as a community organizer.............while his credentials as a Constitutional legal scholar are, it seems, as suspect as his birth certificate.

TRACE IS THE CASE FOR THE DA RACE

How the Harris County District Attorney's Office ought to handle folks charged with POSSESSION of trace amounts of illegal drugs has become a defining issue in the Republican primary race for DA.

Challenger Mike Anderson appears to support the position that if an individual is found to merely possess “small amounts” of a controlled substance that individual needs to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The incumbent DA, Pat Lykos , does not consider the mere possession of trace amounts of a controlled substance an issue worthy of prosecution. She argues that legislative intent allows for a DA to exercise sound judgment and discretion when considering how best to allocate available resources to fight crime…………..common sense over intolerance.

Imagine if a triage officer in charge of an Afghanistan MASH unit tied up the surgical suites with splinter extractions while US Marines bled out from IED blasts waiting for a surgical evaluation.

The differing positions came to a crescendo at a recent Republican luncheon when Mike Anderson asked Pat Lykos if possession of a small amount of cocaine, heroin, or methamphetamine was against the law and she answered that it was not. That brief snippet of their debate was posted on a political blog for viewer comment. …………..not only was the exchange completely taken out of context thereby grossly tainting any legitimate critique; it was very strangely presented by Anderson both in format and appearance. Notwithstanding, the Lykos detractors were quick to pile on the bandwagon gleefully citing the Texas Penal Code and Lykos’ “obvious oblivion” to its contents.

Lykos is no legal scholar by a long shot and by most accounts has performed dismally overall as the elected DA of Harris County; but that does not mean Andersonian logic is sound in this dialogue.

If Anderson becomes the elected DA of Harris County my advice to all Harris County residents is to NEVER carry large bills on your person…………………………the odds that they might unknowingly be tainted with white powder is surely not worth the risk.

And for all you soccer moms pinching your kids’ ADD meds……….you’ve been warned as well.

Andersonian logic on the trace possession  issue begs the question as to whether or not an individual who tests positive on a drug screen is subject to prosecution under a zero tolerance administration.

Common sense folks.........we can't afford big government, petty policies and personal agendas to bankrupt our justice system.
Team Anderson needs to focus on winning the war; not inconsequential and even damning battles.

A BLACK MAN, THE PROGRESSIVE'S PERFECT TROJAN HORSE

As millions of my fellow Americans, I am outraged, devastated and extremely angry by the democrat's unbelievable arrogance and disdain for We The People. Despite our screaming "no" from the rooftops, they forced Obamacare down our throats. Please forgive me for using the following crude saying, but it is very appropriate to describe what has happened. "Don't urinate on me and tell me it's raining." Democrats say their mission is to give all Americans health care. The democrats are lying. Signing Obamacare into law against our will and the Constitution is tyranny and step one of their hideous goal of having as many Americans as possible dependent on government, thus controlling our lives and fulfilling Obama's promise to fundamentally transform America.

I keep asking myself. How did our government move so far from the normal procedures of getting things done? Could a white president have so successfully pulled off shredding the Constitution to further his agenda? I think not.

Ironically, proving America is completely the opposite of the evil racist country they relentlessly accuse her of being, progressives used America's goodness, guilt and sense of fair play against her. In their quest to destroy America as we know it, progressives borrowed a brilliant scheme from Greek mythology. They offered America a modern day Trojan Horse, a beautifully crafted golden shiny new black man as a presidential candidate. Democrat Joe Biden lauded Obama as the first clean and articulate African American candidate. Democrat Harry Reid said Obama only uses a black dialect when he wants.

White America relished the opportunity to vote for a black man naively believing they would never suffer the pain of being called racist again. Black Americans viewed casting their vote for Obama as the ultimate Affirmative Action for America's sins of the past.

Then there were the entitlement loser voters who said, "I'm votin' for the black dude who promises to take from those rich SOBs and give to me."

Just as the deceived Trojans dragged the beautifully crafted Trojan Horse into Troy as a symbol of their victory, deceived Americans embraced the progressive's young, handsome, articulate and so called moderate black presidential candidate as a symbol of their liberation from accusation of being a racist nation. Also like the Trojan Horse, Obama was filled with the enemy hiding inside.

Sunday, March 21, 2010, a secret door opened in Obama, the shiny golden black man. A raging army of democrats charged out. Without mercy, they began their vicious bloody slaughter of every value, freedom and institution we Americans hold dear; launching the end of America as we know it.

Wielding swords of votes reeking with the putrid odor of back door deals, the democrats landed a severe death blow to America and individual rights by passing Obamacare.

The mainstream liberal media has been relentlessly badgering the Tea Party movement with accusations of racism. Because I am a black tea party patriot, I am bombarded with interviewers asking me the same veiled question. "Why are you siding with these white racists against America 's first African American president?" I defend my fellow patriots who are white stating, "These patriots do not give a hoot about Obama's skin color. They simply love their country and oppose his radical agenda. Obama's race is not an issue."

Recently, I have come to believe that perhaps I am wrong about Obama's race not being an issue. In reality, Obama's presidency has everything to do with racism, but not from the Tea Party movement. Progressives and Obama have exploited his race from the rookie senator's virtually unchallenged presidential campaign to his unprecedented bullying of America into Obamacare. Obama's race trumped all normal media scrutiny of him as a presidential candidate and most recently even the Constitution of the United States. Obamacare forces all Americans to purchase health care which is clearly unconstitutional.

No white president could get away with boldly and arrogantly thwarting the will of the American people and ignoring laws. President Clinton tried universal health care. Bush tried social security reform. The American people said "no" to both presidents' proposals and it was the end of it. So how can Obama get away with giving the American people the finger? The answer: He is black.The mainstream liberal media continues to portray all who oppose Obama in any way as racist. Despite a list of failed policies, overreaches into the private sector, violations of the Constitution and planned destructive legislation too numerous to mention in this article, many Americans are still fearful of criticizing our first black president. Incredible.

My fellow Americans, you must not continue to allow yourselves to be "played" and intimidated by Obama's race or the historical context of his presidency. If we are to save America , the greatest nation on the planet, Obama's progressive agenda must be stopped.

BIG JOLLY IS A BIG DEAL

The story goes that when Lyndon Johnson was losing his first congressional election he put out the word that his opponent was having sex with barnyard animals. An aide innocently warned Johnson that this wasn’t true. “Make the SOB deny it,” LBJ was said to have replied.

Thus goes Texas politics.....

The Harris County Republican Party lived up to the LBJ standard in the 2008 Republican Primary and especially in the Run-Off for Harris County District Attorney……….2012 is gearing up to have the same philosophy for the HCDA Republican Primary.

A local Texas political blogger by the name of Big Jolly is supporting Judge Pat Lykos, the Republican incumbent District Attorney, in her re-election bid for DA. He is being vilified for this endorsement by nearly all the folks who know and work with Lykos.

The anti-Lykos contention being: it is one thing to endure the arbitrary vindictive incompetence of an individual on a day-to-day basis at the workplace; however, it is quite another to reach a valid character and/or job performance assessment based on limited interviews by a political blogger in a controlled setting. Secondly, Big Jolly strongly supported Lykos’ obviously more qualified opponent, Kelly Siegler, in the 2008 Republican Primary ............recognizing,  at that time, Lykos’ blatant ineptitude.

It is no secret that I am in complete agreement with the folks who actually work with Lykos on a daily basis. Notwithstanding, I appreciate the foundation for Big Jolly’s misconception and his digging his feet in the sand on the issue.

When I first met Pat Lykos she was not at all what I expected based on the horror stories I had heard from the legions of folks who had to either work for or with her. She came across as ingratiating and appeared to be caring and empathetic with strong sound convictions. It was not until I observed her in an apolitical setting where her true character was exposed. Only then was I able to make a fair and accurate judgment on the real Pat Lykos…….…..the deception revealed was astonishing.

Big Jolly is someone Lykos will pander to for political favor; not someone who will ever work with or for Lykos. It is, therefore, very unlikely that Big Jolly will ever be privy to firsthand knowledge of who the real Pat Lykos is to experience a similar epiphany.

When Big Jolly comes up short in his assessment of Lykos he is skewered by Lykos detractors. His sincere effort to seek the truth is ignored and ridiculed; which ironically reinforces the misconception.

If prosecutors expect to persuade an “outsider” as to who Pat Lykos truly is and how her tenure has impacted the justice system in Harris County………..they ought to be able to present the facts in a MATURE respectful well thought out manner supported by the evidence--of which there is an overwhelming abundance.

Failure to try Lykos in the court of public opinion with the same fortitude and character we would expect from a veteran lead prosecutor in a Death Capital will not only spare Lykos; but also result in a death blow to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

So I submit that if in fact the goal is to restore integrity to the Harris County District Attorney's Office..........ADAs and others who are privy to Lykos' leadership failures act accordingly in their efforts to persuade Big Jolly to change course.

The greater good of Harris County and the GOP is more important than childish pouts .

OBAMA'S SOCIALIZATION OF AMERICA




Jeffrey Follks was correct today when he wrote: "despite everything Obama has done to ruin it, the economy is getting better. And while a growth rate of 2.3% and an unemployment rate of 8.3% are not exactly worth bragging about, the president is doing just that. The direction of the economy, it seems, is more important than the record of the past three years.

The problem is that the present direction is largely the product of this administration's unprecedented deficit spending and of monetary loosening on the part of the Fed. Once these forms of stimulus are withdrawn, as they must be after the election, the direction of the economy will reverse.

The real question for voters is not direction of the economy in the months leading up to the election. It is Obama's record over the previous four years and the likely direction of the economy after the election.

Half of that information is already known. In what may be the understatement of the year, the Congressional Budget Office recently noted that "in the recovery [from the 2008-2009 recession], the pace of growth in the nation's output has been anemic compared with that during most other recoveries since World War II." In fact, in every month of Obama's presidency, the unemployment rate has been above 8%. And at no time has GDP growth been higher than 3%. That is the worst post-recession record of any president in American history.

But what of the future? In its report entitled "Budget and Economic Outlook: Fiscal Years 2011 to 2021," the CBO reported that, given likely policy outcomes, "production and employment are likely to stay well below the economy's potential for a number of years." Indeed, the CBO projects that the economic growth rate will remain 2.3% throughout the decade, even under the best scenario (ignoring, for example, the inevitable effects of the business cycle). Private economists are more forthcoming: if the Bush tax cuts are not fully re-enacted, GDP growth will be cut by as much as 1%. Even Christine Romer, Obama's former economic adviser, has stated that "an exogenous tax increase of one percent of GDP lowers real GDP by roughly three percent." If all of the taxes Obama has proposed are enacted, taxation as a percentage of GDP will permanently increase from the recent historical level of 18% to over 24%. According to Obama's own adviser, that amounts to an extraordinary reduction of 18% in potential GPD growth.

An important Heritage Foundation paper, "Obama's Tax Hikes: The Economic and Fiscal Effects," studied the effects of Obama's proposed tax increases for FY2011 and FY2012. These are the same increases that he promises to enact if re-elected. Between 2013 and 2019, Obama's tax increases on small business owners and investors will cost an average of 799,000 jobs per year. Moreover, the destructive effects would continue for years beyond that. Enactment of Obama's tax plan would cut GDP by more than $1 trillion over the following decades.

It's important to recognize that Obama's plan to raise taxes on "the rich" is, in reality, a tax increase on all Americans. In reality, it is working Americans who would be hit the hardest under Obama's tax increases as small businesses fail, investment declines, and consumer spending is curtailed. Voters need to see Obama's tax proposal for what it is: not a tax on the rich, but an enormous transfer of wealth from the American people to government.

The purpose of Obama's proposed tax increases is not to restore fairness, but to increase government power by shifting revenue from the private sector to government. Once that revenue is controlled by government, it will be used to purchase influence, buy votes, silence opposition, and further restrict economic and personal liberty.

Small businesses are the main target of Obama's tax increases. According to the Heritage Foundation study, half of all those affected by Obama's proposals would be small business owners. Obama's regulatory assaults have already had a chilling effect on large corporations, forcing them to "work with" the administration or face retaliation. Large health insurance companies were intimidated into supporting ObamaCare. Financial firms were forced to accept bailout money whether they wished to or not, and having accepted such assistance, they continue to operate under agency rules that limit shareholder dividends and restrict executive pay, among other restrictions. GM and Chrysler were taken over and, it would seem, forced to support government mileage targets. New rules from the National Labor Relations Board will require every large or medium-size business to display a poster designed by the board advising workers of their right to strike. These and a thousand other regulatory actions are transforming America from a free market-society into a corporatist economy where government sets the rules. Now Obama wants to extend the same degree of control over small businesses.

If Obama is re-elected, there will be more to come. As the president has told his supporters again and again, there is "a lot more work" to do. The personal and economic liberties of Americans are under assault. Obama will not stop until our basic freedoms have been shredded, the Constitution repudiated, and our economy placed under the boot of government control.

Obama will continue to argue that he should be re-elected because the economy is improving. Certainly the president will do all he can to assure that it continues to improve right up to election day, as will the Federal Reserve under Ben Bernanke. After that, some very large bills come due. And if Obama is re-elected, the long-term damage will be economic stagnation, and worse."

PHARAOH OBAMA.....WE ARE NOT FREE AT LAST AFTER ALL


RECENT VIRGINIA CHURCH SERVICE - STIMULUS SERMON:


I would love to give the Pastor of this predominantly black church in Virginia three cheers. This guy is obviously a leader. Perhaps we should each decide who our real leader is......... amazing to see that very little has changed in 4,000 years.

"Good morning, brothers and sisters; it's always a delight to see the pews crowded on Sunday morning, and so eager to get into God's Word. Turn with me in your Bibles, if you will, to the 47th chapter of Genesis. We'll begin our reading at verse 13, and go through verse 27.

Brother Ray, would you stand and read that great passage for us? ... (reading) .... Thank you for that fine reading, Brother Ray. So we see that economic hard times fell upon Egypt, and the people turned to the government of Pharaoh to deal with this for them. And Pharaoh nationalized the grain harvest, and placed the grain in great storehouses that he had built. So the people brought their money to Pharaoh, like a great tax increase, and gave it all to him willingly in return for grain. And this went on until their money ran out, and they were hungry again.

So when they went to Pharaoh after that, they brought their livestock - their cattle, their horses, their sheep, and their donkey - to barter for grain, and verse 17 says that only took them through the end of that year. But the famine wasn't over, was it? So the next year, the people came before Pharaoh and admitted they had nothing left, except their land and their own lives. "There is nothing left in the sight of my lord but our bodies and our land. Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for food, and we with our land will be servants to Pharaoh." So they surrendered their homes, their land, and their real estate to Pharaoh's government, and then sold themselves into slavery to him, in return for grain.

What can we learn from this, brothers and sisters?

That turning to the government instead of to God to be our provider in hard times only leads to slavery? Yes... That the only reason government wants to be our provider is to also become our master?

Yes. But look how that passage ends, brothers and sisters! Thus Israel settled in the land of Egypt , in the land of Goshen . And they gained possessions in it, and were fruitful and multiplied greatly." God provided for His people, just as He always has! They didn't end up giving all their possessions to government, no, it says they gained possessions! But I also tell you a great truth today, and an ominous one.

We see the same thing happening today - the government today wants to "share the wealth" once again, to take it from us and redistribute it back to us. It wants to take control of healthcare, just as it has taken control of education, and ration it back to us, and when government rations it, then government decides who gets it, and how much, and what kind. And if we go along with it, and do it willingly, then we will wind up no differently than the people of Egypt did four thousand years ago - as slaves to the government, and as slaves to our leaders.

What Mr. Obama's government is doing now is no different from what Pharaoh's government did then, and it will end the same. And a lot of people like to call Mr. Obama a "Messiah," don't they? Is he a Messiah? A savior? Didn't the Egyptians say, after Pharaoh made them his slaves, "You have saved our lives; may it please my lord, we will be servants to Pharaoh"? Well, I tell you this - I know the Messiah; the Messiah is a friend of mine; and Mr. OBAMA IS NO MESSIAH! No, brothers and sisters, if Mr. Obama is a character from the Bible, then he is Pharaoh. Bow with me in prayer, if you will..

Lord, You alone are worthy to be served, and we rely on You, and You alone. We confess that the government is not our deliverer, and never rightly will be. We read in the eighth chapter of 1 Samuel, when Samuel warned the people of what a ruler would do, where it says "And in that day you will cry out because of your king, whom you have chosen for yourselves, but the LORD will not answer you in that day..."

And Lord, we acknowledge that day has come. We cry out to you because of the ruler that we have chosen for ourselves as a nation. Lord, we pray for this nation. We pray for revival, and we pray for deliverance from those who would be our masters. Give us hearts to seek You and hands to serve You, and protect Your people from the atrocities of Pharaoh's government."

JIM LEITNER..........SOCIAL PARASITE



Jim Leitner rode around in Coast Guard Reserve units at the Houston Ship Channel during the Persian Gulf War; his son served two (2) tours of active duty in Iraq.

Jim Leitner taught Sunday School at his Lutheran church; but the Ten Commandments were for others to follow.

Jim Leitner knowing he could never earn a job as a Harris County prosecutor on his own merit....................agreed to engage in whatever subterfuge necessary to elect Pat Lykos District Attorney of Harris County and quid pro quo his way in the back door.

Jim Leitner was a longtime criminal defense lawyer who was paid as much as $200,000 a year by the citizens of Harris County for representing defendants too poor to hire their own lawyers.......................admitting with a grin that he defended crooks because it was more lucrative than prosecuting them.
 
Jim Leitner has an odd perspective as it relates to his criminal representation of former clients. 
Leitner, in his unabridged arrogance, considered himself to be such a brilliant defense attorney that he incredulously claimed to have been a financial asset to the tax payers of Harris County.

Jim Leitner explains this odd premise by arguing that when his clients were convicted (in spite of his extraordinary legal prowess) that those convictions were less likely to be overturned on the grounds of ineffective counsel...................one can only speculate as to what the legions of Leitner's convicted clients think about that convoluted rationale.

In 2000, Jim Leitner defended a cop-killer whom prosecutors sought the death penalty on.
Leitner successfully argued that his client did not deserve the death penalty under Texas law because he would not be a continuing threat to society.
Leitner called the case "a political prosecution," saying prosecutors only sought death because, instead of following the law, they wanted to please a public desire for executing the murderer of a police officer.
The jury sentenced his cop killing client to life in prison....................a cop was murdered, a killer was saved and a well deserved needle was set aside as Leitner smiled.

Jim Leitner agrees that some killers sent to death row from Harris County deserve to die; but alleges that others have been executed without having met the legal criteria for the ultimate punishment.

Before being sworn in as the first assistant to the district attorney, Leitner advocated philosophical "change" by instilling more discipline in how the DA's office approached sentencing for crimes large and small. Leitner's policy changes and "influence" at the Harris County District Attorney's Office  have proven to be a counter productive farce.

Jim Leitner shaving off his mustache to distance his image from Chuck Rosenthal didn't change his character; it was foreboding.

Some folks self sacrifice for the benefit of others.............................Jim Leitner prefers to sacrifice others for his benefit.

BUNTION WANTS A SPECIAL PROSECUTOR.............REALLY?

Notorious COP KILLER Carl Wayne Buntion, is petitioning the court to delay the retrial punishment phase of his Death Capital conviction until such time as an "untainted" prosecutor is made available to proceed.

THE AUDACITY!

Instead of jurors hearing evidence to decide whether or not Buntion should be executed for gunning down Houston police officer James Irby during a mere traffic stop in 1990; a judge must first decide whether a Special Prosecutor should be hired before punishment testimony can be heard.
The REAL issue ought to be: why is this convicted capital murderer still alive?

Officer Irby has laid in his cold casket for twelve (12) long years...........yet before a second jury can be cajoled by a defense team regarding Buntion finding Jesus, being a model inmate and/or other excuses to mitigate his selfish cold blooded killing of a: husband, father, son, brother, friend and Houston Police Officer---justice is placed on hold while politics holds the court hostage.

Defense counsel Casey Keirnan and Phillip Scardino argue that their convicted cop killing client cannot receive a fair punishment trial for murdering a police officer simply because they believe the entire Harris County District Attorney's Office is tainted by DA Pat Lykos' questionable personal behavior.
Specifically, they submit that since the Texas Rangers and the FBI are currently interviewing certain members of the DA's office in that regard; the entire staff is corrupt.........BULLSHIT!
Disingenuous profiling from, of all people, criminal defense attorneys...........brother please.

DA Pat Lykos has no doubt behaved badly; as did Chuck Rosenthal before her.
Notwithstanding, the ADAs were not responsible for Rosenthal's bad behavior then nor are the ADAs responsible for Lykos' bad behavior now.

"Mr. Buntion is entitled to be prosecuted by a District Attorney and assistant district attorneys who are neither witnesses in nor targets of a criminal prosecution," reads a motion to suspend prosecution or appoint a special prosecutor.
Careful what you wish for...........does cop killer death row inmate Buntion really want a high profile Rock Star Special Prosecutor who is NOT afraid of nor subject to the whims of disgraced DA Pat Lykos spear heading his retrial on punishment?
Wayne Buntion is no Anthony Graves........and there's the rub.

Law enforcement officials have been talking to Harris County district attorney employees about allegations the DA's office investigated the grand jurors of the 185th District Court, who for six months, investigated Lykos' office.
Lykos admitted she asked her chief investigator to do an "internet search" into possible political connections between grand jurors of the 185th District Court, two judges and a political opponent of the district attorney. She has said it was not an "investigation.".........and Bill Clinton said, "I never had sex with that woman, Monica Lewinsky."

Recall that on the eve of the death penalty trial of John Edward Green, Lykos agreed to a plea bargain for 40 years in prison.................James Irby, his family, his friends and his community deserve better than that.

So if Scardino and Keirnan want to challenge justice let's offer them the best Special Prosecutor in the country: KELLY SIEGLER.....................wonder how fast they'll move to dismiss their motion to appoint a special prosecutor after the Siegler ace is played?

ERIC HOLDER PULLS A PAT LYKOS

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder's Fast and Furious cover-up and Harris County DA Pat Lykos' B.A.T. van shell game subjected both individuals to government investigations.

Lykos skated earlier in the week, her troops are in lock down and the Honey Badger is out for revenge.

Today we will find out whether or not Holder appears in front of Congress and complies with  the subpoena duces tecum or is held in Congressional Contempt.

From Washington D.C. to Houston, Texas, the chief law enforcement officers of our country hold themselves above the law.

DOES MIKE ANDERSON HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE ELECTED DISTRICT ATTORNEY OF HARRIS COUNTY?

On January 20, 2012, PBS' Red, White and Blue held a question and answer session between the two (2) Republican candidates for Harris County District Attorney............incumbent Pat Lykos and challenger Mike Anderson.

Notwithstanding my adamant disdain for Lykos, Anderson's performance last Friday was surprisingly revealing............and not in a good way.
This was not the Mike Anderson I remember from the Johnny Holmes era. There was no heart.........no fire in the belly.  Anderson struggled to maintain eye contact and seemed unsure as to why he was there or what he stood for. He was unprepared for battle and appeared worn out before the first question.
Oddly, in the face of Lykos' 2008 general election victory; Anderson conceded personal defeat by expressing his gratitude and good fortune for not having to be on the 2008 judicial ballot himself.

When co-host David Jones asked Anderson why he was running for DA his response was NOT that the DA's office lacked leadership and integrity and that he was willing to make whatever personal sacrifices were necessary to restore honor and the highest standards of excellence to the office so that JUSTICE would once again prevail in Harris County........................selflessness was a virtual no-show

Anderson's response was quite the opposite. He began by reminiscing when Johnny Holmes decided to step down how lots of folks urged him to run for DA; but since he was a judge at the time he had a responsibility to fulfill his promised obligation to the voters and complete his full term..........a philosophy he abandoned when he put his name in to be appointed to the Court of Appeals; not once BUT twice while sitting on the bench. Therefore, had his bid for higher office been accepted either time, the Governor would have had to appoint someone to fulfill the balance of Anderson's term. How hypocritical.
Anderson also noted that when "Mr. Rosenthal" faltered in 2008 folks again urged him to run for DA; but his excuse at that time was that his government insurance plan was two (2) years shy of vesting and he was concerned that if he was in a bus accident his family would not be taken care of...........an assumption based on losing his bid for DA.
Now that Anderson has absolutely zero personal risk at stake it seems there is no further need to make excuses..........Anderson will lead his loyal army of supporters to the promised land.
Selflessness was a virtual no-show yet again.

Both Lykos and Anderson were asked by Lykos supporter and co-host Gary Polland whether or not as judge either candidate had granted Judicial Bypass (waiving the requirement that a pregnant minor's parents be told before she has an abortion).  Lykos was quick to respond that she never granted Judicial Bypass but failed to mention that she left the bench before Judicial Bypass was even  a judicial option. Anderson was quick to be non-responsive shouting that the proceedings were secret but that he was a big pro-life supporter and always has been.
Please. Generically affirming or denying whether or not as judge you granted Judicial Bypass in no way breaches any specific individual's confidentiality. Grant Judicial Bypass and own up to it, transfer the case to another court or handle it the way Judge Billy Harmon handles D.I.V.E.R.T. in his courtroom..........with integrity of his convictions instead of worrying about what paid political endorsers Steve Hotze or Terry Lowry would think.

"The man,the woman who risks nothing.........does nothing, has nothing, is nothing".
Where is the character of leadership? Where are the risk takers?  Where are the folks who believe in a cause greater than themselves?  Who is willing to risk their job security, their retirement benefits and their own personal money to stand up for what is right simply because it is the right thing to do?
It sure as heck doesn't seem like it is Mike Anderson on any of those accounts.

Physical appearance and debate skills are a lot easier to address than character...........a leader ought not ask people to do what he is unwilling to do himself

Mike Anderson, a lot of folks are counting on you to step up your game; this is the big league.

CSI HOUSTON

District Attorney Pat Lykos, with the support of Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, will have her long awaited regional crime lab. Commissioners' Court signed off on the project yesterday with ground breaking scheduled to commence within two (2) years.................. just in time to kick off her re-election campaign.
Lykos is ecstatic! This has been a political pet project for her and will no doubt play a pivotal role in putting the pending Grand Jury investigations against the Harris County District Attorney's Office behind her........UNLESS an indictment is handed down;which is very unlikely at this point.

Lykos is boasting that the crime lab will be a nine (9) story twenty-first century state of the art facility located in the heart of the Texas Medical Center availing itself of all the surrounding medical resources.

The City of Houston is yet to jump on board; but will have a difficult time retaining autonomy given the political consequences of government waste associated with redundancy.

Judge Ed Emmett stated, "DA Pat Lykos is doing a great job as our district attorney..." during an interview on KTRH 740 AM this morning.
REALLY? What specifically has Lykos done in her capacity as district attorney that would fit that bill?
Spear-heading the creation of a regional crime lab has NOTHING to do with the duties of district attorney. In fact, Lykos has neglected her sworn duties of the office of district attorney just to score political points.

SUPER BOWL XLVI: TEXANS UPSET THE SAINTS

The sports announcers have spoken, "After destroying the rest of the NFL in the regular season, the New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots are on a crash course to meet in a Super Bowl."

Not so fast.

The Houston Texans will take car of business in Baltimore on Sunday after Tim Tebow's  Denver Bronco's eliminate Tom Brady's New England Patriot's Saturday evening.

The AFC Championship game will be in Reliant Stadium..........bring hearing protection we are going to blow the roof off.

As for the Saints......they will squeak by the Packers and fall to the Texans in Indianapolis.
